Education

This 1 day workshop run by Bud Kelly was primarily developed for schools but it is also highly suitable for corporate events and cultural training.

The workshop are divided into morning and afternoon sessions. Note: For schools with limited budgets the morning or afternoon sessions can be purchased as 'stand alone'.


Morning Session:

Duration 2 x 1 hour separate sessions.

This session is undertaken (repeated) twice in the morning to allow the school to manage numbers and class timetables.


Content

1 x 40 minute multimedia presentation covering the history of Aboriginal

  • artefacts (eg: didgeridoo, boomerang)
  • traditional and contemporary culture
  • dance and music (from the local area)
  • traditional customs
  • folklore and stories

1 x 20 minute interactive dance session

The audience is taught some dance moves by the performer and then encouraged to join in and dance in a light hearted and enjoyable manner.


Afternoon Session

Please note that this presentation does not repeat information provided in the morning session.

4 x 45 minute theatre and dance classes to separate groups


Comprising of

1 x 15 minute multi media presentation on Indigenous storytelling and dance covering

  • traditional customs
  • folklore and stories
  • styles between areas
  • social interaction
  • corroborees
  • legacy of knowledge and history
  • hunting and food gathering
  • animal behaviour
  • totems (Bagarr) and people's connections with specific animals

1 x 30 minute dance and drama workshops.

This session is where each class learns a different dance and drama piece.


The Finalé

The 4 classes are combined into a 1 hour dance and story production for parents and staff.
